WATER DISTRIBUTION DIVISION
PUBLIC UTILITIES DEPARTMENT

MAJOR FUNCTIONSThis is semi-skilled manual work involving reading water meters and the installation, maintenance and repair of the water distribution system, city facilities and buildings. Work is performed under the direction of the Water Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESResponsible for reading water meters and for the daily construction, repair and maintenance of the city’s water lines, water meters, valves, hydrants and other water distribution system devices. Identifies and reports vandalism and safety concerns. Operates various landscaping equipment (e.g., mower, tractor, edger, weed eater, hedge trimmer, saw). Performs maintenance and minor repair of assigned equipment and tools. Operate city’s internal communication (radio) system. Performs other non-essential duties as required.

KNOWLEDGEKnowledge of water distribution system installation and maintenance techniques, operation of equipment and related tools and occupational hazards. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city employees, vendors and the general public is essential.

EDUCATION: Graduation from High School or G.E.D.

EXPERIENCEPrefer successful candidate to have at least one (1) year water treatment and/or water distribution experience. Must have a valid Florida Commercial Drivers License (Class B) required or must obtain within 90 days.

JOB LOCATIONPublic Utilities Department, 1300 Recker Highway

WORK SCHEDULEMonday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

HIRING RATE: $27,759 Annually.
